Last month Andy Wilsher Sings was honoured to be asked to perform his Rat Pack tribute at the wake of a wonderful man who had sadly passed away aged 78.
It was so touching to part of this memorable send-off and to be able to perform the songs loved by the deceased and many of his family and friends.
Having grown-up with the timeless music of Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Dean Martin and many more legends, the family thought it only right and fitting that these classic tunes were part of the celebration of life – enabling friends and family to reminisce and be transported back to times when they would have enjoyed these songs all together.
It is of course quite unusual to have live music at a wake, but having performed last month we realised that it can have a beautiful impact on the loved ones saying their final goodbyes. We received so many heartfelt comments from those who attended the wake, all enjoying the sounds of The Rat Pack once again.
As with any event, Andy Wilsher Sings tailors his performance to the situation and the crowd. This performance was undoubtedly carried out with respect and sympathy – yet it was lovely to see how positively guests reacted to the performance.
